Our history
Grendene Chairs was founded thanks to the experience of its owner, gained at Grendene Pietro & F.lli, of which we like to repeat the stages.
THE BEGINNING
The history of company Grendene originates in Vicenza area, a territory rich in history, culture and business successes.
It all started in 1963, in a small garage. The 5 Grendene brothers, after having worked in other companies in the area to refine the art of welding and metal processing, decide to join and found a company specializing in the production and cleaning of chair frames and metal parts.
1970
Grendene products are increasingly appreciated and requests are increasing. The company, in close relationship with national and foreign clients (especially German), thus decides to undertake a new challenge: designing and manufacturing mechanical movements for office chairs and armchairs.
The first “asynchronous” mechanism is launched on the national market: a particular mechanism that allows the seat and backrest to be adjusted independently. This has given the impetus to design and manufacture many other mechanisms and to obtain numerous patents. Hence the slogan “Seating machines”.
1973
The company grows, becoming a solid and structured business reality. With courage, challenging the market, the Grendene brothers begin the creation of their own line of chairs. Thanks to the knowledge of the raw material, to the audacity and with a lot of passion they have succeeded in the enterprise: starting from the raw material up to the finished product.
1980
The production of the first professional antistatic chairs for offices and laboratories starts.
The company begins to participate in the main trade fairs in the sector, both in Italy and abroad, thus favoring its affirmation on the international scene, first on the American market and then on the European one.
1995
Following customer recognition, the company develops its own way of interpreting the evolution of the market. Thus began a long collaboration with prestigious designers, giving life to products that have become iconic.
2014
Grendene Chairs is born. A new image is introduced, coordinated with a new brand philosophy. The Gref ESD division is consolidated, recreating a line of seats dedicated to the world of E.S.D. protection. Thanks to a wide range of antistatic chairs and operating stools, new standards are achieved in terms of protection, ergonomics and the search for new materials.
2018
Lean philosophy is introduced as a strategic system for the company, in the optimization of production and raw materials.
OGGI
Simone is nowadays carrying on the family tradition. Son of one of the founders, he now leads the company with commitment and passion.
Grendene Chairs is today the perfect synthesis of its past, made up of values and skills, and of its continuous projection towards the future. Combining the great heritage of business culture with the desire to face new challenges, innovative solutions are offered, which can guarantee the safety and ergonomics of people in their workstations.
Today “Grendene Chairs” and Gref brands stand out for innovation, robustness, made in Italy quality, and are exported to over 25 countries.
